European Georgia, the party's female representatives and the party's voters appealed the mandatory gender quota in the Constitutional Court. The interests of the plaintiffs will be protected by the Freedom Institute in court.
European Georgia candidate Nino Todria, who is running for the Chokhatauri City Council on the electoral list of the party, believes that mandatory quotas limit women's free competition, which, in her opinion, is unconstitutional and anti-democratic.
"Personally, I am offended by quotas, because everyone will think that I got into the council thanks to quotas. Actually, I am trying to get a place in the representative body with my work and abilities.
We should remember from history that the first female politicians were just six in Georgia and they tried to implement important changes. It's unclear, if we think quotas solve the problem, then why it doesn't take into account other vulnerable, minority groups."

In 2020, the political party Girch also appealed against the mandatory gender quota, but the Constitutional Court did not satisfy the party's request and left the quota in force.
